Hernández & Cía. advised the French Development Agency (AFD) on the structuring of a contingent financing for the Republic of Peru in the amount of up to €200,000,000.00, constituting the AFD’s first sovereign operation in Peru.
The operation will enable the Peruvian government to quickly access resources to respond to emergencies and disasters, with the aim of protecting the population, infrastructure, and economic stability, and reducing the social and economic impact of these crises. It also strengthens the country’s resilience and consolidates the public policy on disaster risk management.
In addition, the AFD will complement the loan with €1.5 million in technical assistance aimed at strengthening the institutional framework and capacities of the national risk management system, with an emphasis on early warning systems, inter-institutional coordination, and the inclusion of women and vulnerable groups.
The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group finances, supports, and accelerates the transition to a more just and sustainable world. Focusing on climate, biodiversity, peace, education, urban development, health, and governance, it carries out more than 4,200 projects in France’s overseas departments and territories and in 150 other countries.
