This project seeks to treat, by means of a sophisticated procedure, the waste water before it reaches Lake Titicaca, with the aim of avoiding its contamination.
The project includes the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plants in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plants in the towns of Puno, Juliaca, Ilave, Ayaviri, Juli and Moho, Azángaro, Yunguyo, Huancané and Lampa in the department of Puno. This is expected to reactive the Peruvian economy by generating more jobs in the project’s area of influence, especially in the sanitation sector.
Several specialized companies and international consortiums were bidders in this project: Aguas de Puno Consortium (Spain); Collas Consortium (France); Aqualia (Spain); Public Works and Services Corporation, COPASA, Branch of Peru (Spain); and Consorcio Fypasa Construcciones S.A. of C.V. and Operadora de Ecosistemas S.A. of C.V. (Mexico).
Consorcio Fypasa Construcciones S.A. de C.V. and Operadora de Ecosistemas S.A. de C.V. de México were awarded with the project and incorporated the company Operadora Ecológica del Titicaca S.A.C. as the concessionaire, who executed the Concession Agreement on October 30, 2019.
