Hernández & Cía. Abogados adds new Arbitration partner, Caterina Miró Quesada Samanez

Hernández & Cía. Abogados strengthens its Arbitration practice with the addition of a new partner, Caterina Miró Quesada Samanez, from the renowned international arbitration firm White & Case LLP.

With this addition, Hernández & Cía. Abogados strengthens its Dispute Resolution Area, which now has a team of 15 lawyers, bringing both strength and international experience to the Arbitration team.

With 14 years of vast experience, Caterina has participated in high-profile national and international arbitrations, advising both sovereign states and private investors in disputes arising from investment contracts and treaties before ICSID, and commercial disputes before the ICC, CIAC, among others, with a focus on International Arbitration in Latin America.

Her expertise lays on advising private and public sector clients on litigation and negotiation strategies and preparation, as well as in the preparation of policies and strategies in the context of dispute resolution, including the identification of potential conflicts of interest and the proposal of strategies to mitigate them, if any.

Hernández & Cía. Abogados continues its pathway to consolidate itself as a permanent top Peruvian full practice law firm-dweller based on the strategy of hiring the best talent in the country with extensive experience, a great command of the law and an impeccable client service capacity. Juan Luis Hernández, Managing Partner of the firm states that: “We are constantly seeking to improve ourselves. Mobility and analysis of market trends are key to succeed in the legal industry and we had identified the need to strengthen our Arbitration practice, domestic and international, so bringing Caterina to co-lead our Arbitration team is the right addition for us. She brings experience and strength to the team and I am confident that this move will set us apart from our competitors.”

After living and working abroad for 7 years, Caterina decided it was time to move back to Peru.  She was approached by several firms and ultimately chose to join Hernandez & Cia. Abogados. “I knew I wanted to join a top firm with an Arbitration practice area where I could expand my career. I was looking for the right fit and was quite impressed, since the first approach, on how easy and comfortable I felt with the team at Hernandez.  We also share the same views on how to boost the practice area” said Caterina.
